Background

Aplin Martin’s old WordPress website no longer reflected the quality or direction of the business. As an established Canadian consultancy with more than 55 years behind it, multiple offices across the country, and a growing public presence, the company needed a website that felt more current and more in step with where it was heading. The acquisition of Studio Intersekt added another layer to that shift and made the refresh feel even more timely.

The goal was not just to modernise the design, but to create a better structure for showcasing projects, supporting recruitment, and giving more visibility to the people, content, and culture behind the business.

Approach

I reworked the information architecture and UX to simplify the site, clean up the structure, and give more focus to projects, careers, and editorial content. The visual direction was kept deliberately clean and minimal so the photography, videography, and project work could carry more of the experience.

A key part of the rebuild was creating a more robust CMS structure for projects, news, and public engagement content. Since the team regularly needs to publish project-related information and updates, the goal was to make that process smoother, less manual, and easier to manage over time. The new setup gives them a more efficient publishing workflow while keeping everything aligned with the wider brand and site design.

The site was also moved from WordPress to Framer, giving the team a more flexible and manageable foundation for future updates and growth.
